Why is “job” pronounced as “jobe” in Outlast?
You can first hear it from The Twins in the Prison Block. “Jobe like in the suppression of our desires.”
Then you hear it later with Father Martin during his cooking session. “My jobe, you alone shall escape to tell them.”
I’m surprised no one has responded to you, so I’ll help you out.
Job is pronounced as Jobe, because they are speaking about/making reference to the biblical figure Job.
(here’s his wiki article for reference)
The biblical figure’s name is pronounced as Jobe (despite being spelled job).
Also, the seeming tie to why they are mentioning his name can basically be summarized by this:
“– Job is mentioned in the New Testament of the Christian Bible: the Epistle of James James 5:11 paraphrases Job as an example of patience in suffering.”
“Latter-day Saints hold in high esteem the life, example and righteousness of Job, and consider him a model of perseverance and endurance to the end.”
